Mozilla Foundation sponsors the Red Panda exhibit in Toronto ZOO. The Red Panda is also sometimes known as huo hú, which literally translates as ‘fire fox’.

This is really thoughtful, a bit funny and most of all, it’s a great PR action.
Well, other browsers might try to sponsor the same way, so I came up with some ideas for Microsoft, Opera Software and Apple. They might like some of my ideas, but they should remember about possible marketing threats.
Opera should try to sponsor Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera.

Possible results: They probably don’t want to have a phantom in their Opera.
Opera Software might also try to sponsor Opera house…

….or Tickets

Possible results: They won’t reach lot of target audience. It’s a premium audience though.
Apple can sponsor real Safari

Possible result: Zulu tribes don’t give a rat’s ass about the browser they use (what is a browser?).
Microsoft, to promote it’s Internet Explorer might try to sponsor Mars Explorer.
Since it’s extremly expensive piece of hardware, they’d have to limit their sponsorship to just a piece of it. They should sponsor a communication antenna, so Mars Explorer could explore internet.

Possible results: Since It’ll break/crash anyway, there will be just negative PR.
